NTSE: 5 days maximum score preparation plan

With limited time left for this year's National Talent Search Exam's first round, here is the NTSE 5 day excellence plan or an NTSE crash course. Weather you have been preparing for the past 4 months or you have just opened your eyes and looked at NTSE syllabus for the first time, this is a tried and tested approach using NTSE Brainstorm to make the best use of time at hand and excel. Follow this step by step approach to crack the first round

5 days to go to NTSE: Find your strengths
Activity Estimated time
  • Find out all information on NTSE including its course, pattern, eligibility, objective of testing, rounds etc. Make sure you know everything about national talent search exam
1-2 hours
2-3 hours
  • Do through analysis for this paper. Look at all the problems that you got correct. Now find your strengths. Your strengths are topics and subtopics where you have higher speed, accuracy and consistency. These are problems that you should attempt, always. NTSE brainstorm's detailed report helps in finding your strong area. It automatically breaks down the paper in sub topics and tells you the time taken per question, accuracy and consistency.
  • Freshen up your content knowledge in your strength areas and areas where you are "just" missing out. But this must be limited to just 1-2 hours. Do not spend excessive time with books now
3-5 hours
  • Make a list of your strengths in terms of sub topics e.g. "Data interpretation" and "Directions" in MAT, "modern India from 1800 to today" in History etc. This is your first list of strengths in NTSE exam
less than 1 hour

4 days to go to NTSE: Find your strengths better
Activity Estimated time
2-3 hours
  • Do through analysis for this paper. This time keep an eye on new strengths that you may find. Also see if the previous subtopics that you marked as your strengths are actually your strong points? Did they come up this time too? Were you good in them?
3-5 hours
  • Now make this final list of strengths. These are your super areas. When NTSE paper comes, be sure to identify and attempt these problems without fail.

3 days to go to NTSE: Find your weaknesses
Activity Estimated time

These are the areas where it is not worth giving time on the final exam day. Even if you spend time solving these problems, you might get it wrong. Hence it is important to find your weaknesses.
3-5 hours
  • Now make this final list of weaknesses. These are best avoided on the day of national talent search exam day.
less than 1 hour

2 days to go to NTSE: Verify your findings
Activity Estimated time
2-3 hours
  • The purpose of this test is to practice and verify your findings about your strengths and weaknesses. Did you get them correct? Are your strong areas actually your strong areas and what about your weak areas? Revise the list if you have to. Now you are preparing your final list of strengths and weaknesses
3-5 hours
  • Now make this final list of strengths and weaknesses for MAT and SAT for NTSE
less than 1 hour

1 day to go to NTSE: Develop strategy and discipline
Activity Estimated time
